Wookiegate Hotel: Consider It Dan collusion allegations or something
Wookiegate? What's up now?
http://www.w00kileaks.org, lol. Just tryin to chill at my hotie, bro.
** This is a continuation/re-post of the thread that 499'd on Sunday. **
A Wookileaks Exclusive: How Trey stayed at a hotel for $84, while VMT/CID scalped $129 rooms to phans for $300+
In 2009, Phish partnered with Valley Music Travel to take care of hotel/shuttle arrangements for Festival 8. Valley Music Travel is a subsidiary of CID Entertainment, or ConsiderItDan, which is also taking care of hotel packages for Phish's 3-day Atlantic City run this summer.
Documents obtained by PT show evidence of extreme hotel price-gouging by VMT/CID, with tacit approval by the band.
1. Among the hotels in the Festival 8 travel package were the Renaissance Esmeralda in Indian Wells, CA and the La Quinta Resort & Club. VMT offered three-night packagesthat included 2 fest tickets, shuttle passes and a room for roughly $1,599 at those two hotels. (I can confirm the price of the LaQ package, and know that the Renaissance price was similar.)
2. Subtracting the price of 2 fest tickets ($199 apiece) and shuttle passes (sold individually for $90, but assuming some built-in discount into the package, we'll call them $80 each), the cost of the hotel was $1,041, or $347 per night.
3. Documents obtained by PT show that Trey stayed in the Renaissance Esmeralda from 10/23-11/2/09 at a rate of $84 per night. View the document here.
4. Another document shows that Valley Music Travel (as well as Goldenvoice) obtained a large block of rooms at a rate of $129 per night. View the document here.
5. Another document shows that the standard price of hotel rooms at the Esmeralda, booked outside of packages, was either $179, $199 or $209. We'll average this, to be generous, to $195 per night. Plus taxes that comes out to around $226 per night. These rates were no longer available once the hotel sold out, with VMT/GV controlling a massive block of rooms in time for the fest's official announcement. View the standard-rate proof here.
Conclusions:
* VMT was allowed to control the best hotels around Fest 8, and sell rooms at a PROFIT of around $200 per night, per room. (Purchased at $129+taxes, sold for $340ish.)
* The VMT purchase of rooms caused them to be re-sold for roughly $120 more, per night, than the rooms cost on the open market. (Were available at $226 including taxes, sold for $340ish.)
* Trey paid $250 less, per night, than the phans who custied up and purchased rooms from Phish partner VMT.

Record Store Day Junta Triple LP Drops April 21, 2012
This LE Deluxe 3-LP vinyl set is limited to 5,000 individually numbered copies. Junta was recorded at Euphoria Sound Studios in Revere, Massachusetts in 1987 and 1988 on 16-track 2" tape and was mixed to 1/4" stereo reels. In addition to writing and performing all the music, the band produced the album themselves.
Junta was originally self-released on cassette tape in May 1989 with packaging created by the band (included in the new vinyl package). The album was remastered and rereleased as a double CD (and cassette) in October 1992. Junta was certified Gold but, until now, has never been heard on vinyl. The vinyl release was created from the original stereo master reels with lacquers cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Each LP is pressed onto 180g audiophile grade vinyl and includes a free MP3 download of the entire album (transferred from the new vinyl master).
2,500 of the Junta LE Deluxe 3-LP sets will include a brand new Limited Edition hand-carved, hand-printed linolium block poster by Jim Pollock, created exclusively for this release. These editions will be distributed randomly at participating independently owned record stores across the country, but will be clearly marked.
This LE Deluxe 3-LP vinyl set was created exclusively for Record Store Day. Junta will be available in stores only beginning Saturday, April 21st. For a complete list of participating record stores, please click here.

Phish Books: FALL 98
Fall 98
"Suspend your normal grooming habits and dash on the patrouli, it's time for Phish tour. Hit the road with Julian Jakos, a precarious 23-year-old, as he quits his job at a sock factory and hops in the Isuzu Trooper of Peter Grossinger, a kleptomaniac gas station attendant who also works the night shift. As they travel across America Fall 98 chronicles Julian's arresting adventures with sex, drugs, rock n' roll, rogue cops, raver-hippy hybrids, maniacal twirlers, and mile after mile of interstate. This extraordinary read is a non-stop coming-of-age tale that's as much comical as it is disparaging, a book so saturated with drug logic you'll think you're being dosed. Not just a novel for Phish fans, Fall 98 is a universally identifiable adventure in escapism."

Rumor: BETHEL MEMORIAL DAY CONFIRMED
BETHEL MEMORIAL DAY CONFIRMED
http://bit.ly/z7VVvA
via PTthreadofday
Town Clerk: Hello, how may I help you?
Me: Hi, I was told you might be able to help me out. My wife and I live part time residents, and we are planning on having our daughter's wedding here in Bethel over Memorial Day weekend at our home. My wife was told yesterday that the town may be hosting some big "Rock & Roll Festival" over the holiday weekend. Needless to say, we are thinking that this may NOT be the ideal weekend to bring dozens of family and friends into town.
Town Clerk: No, sir. Theres's no rock festival. It's the band Phish. They are playing at Bethel Woods. They were here last year, and they are coming back again. They have very nice fans, and they are not a rowdy crowd. I wouldn't alter your daughter's wedding plans.
Me: Are you positive that this is taking place over Memorial Day Weekend?
Town Clerk: "Yes"

Doh Doh Otamatone Shock
No, it is not time for... well, maybe it is time for the meatstick, I dunno...
Ok, so in theory, playing the Otamatone Electronic Instrument is unbelievably easy. You place your finger on the stem to select the pitch. To get vibrato (or any sort of wah-wah effects), you just squeeze the note's rubber cheeks repeatedly. This will open and close the little dude's mouth. Now, we did say easy in theory. That's because the strip on the stem has no pitch labels or frets, so you really have to have a good ear. That said, you can easily just slide between notes, both for ease of playing and for even more musical effect. The Otamatone Electronic Instrument is wacky, adorable, distinctive, and can be a great instrument for some unique electronic performances.

This device is singlehandedly the most useful tool for composing music I have ever seen. Not only is the tone impeccable and unforgettable, but it also helps you improve your ear. Better snag a couple now before these babies become hard to find!Product Features
- Three pitch levels and two volume levels.
- 1 octave plus a diminished 5th per pitch level.

[1] Auld Lang Syne tease from Trey.
[2] Unfinished.
Notes: Fluffhead contained an Auld Lang Syne tease from Trey. Prior to Steam, a steam kettle and hot plate went off on stage, with Trey acting like he was attempting to put out the steam. Shortly after the song began, steam also came from the floor near the soundboard area. An amp (with the steam kettle on it), a keytar, a bass, a vacuum, and a few lights were then lifted off the stage. A woman in the front of the stage tossed a “Steam” sign into the front row, then rose with a barricade and security guard before eventually being lifted up over the band. Several other aerialists (clothed in various casual attire, equipped with black backpacks emitting smoke and lights on their backs) subsequently rose up from the crowd and ascended and descended several times. The first aerialist counted down to midnight, at which point balloons were released from the ceiling. The aerialists later returned with lights in their hands for Down with Disease, which also featured Trey and Mike being raised up and back down a few times before finally rising several feet on hydraulic lifts. Disease was unfinished.
Happy new year.
